Ava S. Dorrance's Site

Since her first position as Therapist and Coordinator of the Eating Disorder Program at Cedarloo Psychiatric Clinic and Covenant Medical Center, Ms. Ava Dorrance has maintained numerous social work positions throughout her professional career. Possessing extensive experience in the social work field, Ava Dorrance has proven a valuable asset in every position she has served. Adept at a number of treatments, Ava Dorrance is a Certified Mindful Coach and possesses certification in Advanced Ericksonian Hypnosis and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). An accomplished leader, Ava Dorrance led the development and establishment of a multitude of programs and facilities. In her role at Covenant Medical Center, Ava Dorrance not only ran the Cedarloo Clinic, but also facilitated the establishment of an inpatient/outpatient program for the hospital. As a Psychiatric Social Worker Therapist with the Psychology Associates Genesis Health System, Ava Dorrance developed and established a branch for a mental health practice. While promoting the new practice within the community, Ava Dorrance led three support groups. In her most recent position as a Psychiatric Social Worker for Cass County Community Hospital, Ava Dorrance designed a program to assist behaviorally disordered children and adolescents. Ava Dorrance also provided therapy, was involved in court committals, and conducted evaluations until leaving the hospital to care for her parents. Today, Ava Dorrance is committed to helping others through community initiatives. In addition to cooking and serving meals to those in need through her church, Ava Dorrance is highly involved in a number of YMCA projects, including the YMCA Summer Camp program, repair initiatives, and projects that help fund a daycare program. Additionally, Ava Dorrance provides support to the local library, the American Cancer Society, the Humane Society, and a local music and arts society. When she is not working or volunteering, Ava Dorrance enjoys spending her time with friends and family. Ms. Ava Dorrance currently makes her home in Iowa.
